Haryana’s embarrassingly skewed sex ratio at birth (SRB) seems to be showing signs of improvement, with the administration claiming a jump of 38 points between 2015 and December 2017.Haryana claims sex ratio improvement by 914 : 1000
Haryana’s sex ratio at birth (SRB) –

  • 2011 – 830 Girls : 1000 Boys
  • 2017 – 914 girls : 1,000 boys SRB, as per chief registrar of births and deaths

The women and child development (WCD) ministry present a Report at a national consultation organized on the “Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao”.

After launched “Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao” in 2015 by PM Narendra Modi at Panipat in Haryana.
The data for Panipat shows SRB –

  • 2011 – 833 : 1000
  • 2015 – 892 : 1000
  • 2016 – 893 : 1000
  • 2017 – 945 : 1000

According to data trend shared at the conference by WCD, SRB in Haryana :

  • 2015 – 876 Girls : 1000 Boys
  • 2016 – 902 Girls : 1000 Boys
  • 2017 – 914 Girls : 1000 Boys

District wise break-up reflect trends that have some extremes like it is claimed that Yamunanagar’s SRB has gone up by 75 points to 943:1,000 in 2017 from 2015 .

While Haryana administration attributes the highs to the many measures it claims to have taken under BBBP around awareness building and community participation, the decline in Mewat is under scrutiny, officials said.
